Northern Hawk Owl
A gem of the Boreal forest, the Northern Hawk Owl sometimes moves farther south in search of food. They are a delight to photographers, birdwatchers and local folks who seem so pleased to have a celebrity in their midst.

The Hawk Owl spent a lot of time preening, then proceeded to stretch a number of times. This is the first time I was able to visualize the band on his left leg, which he acquired in late December 2019.

"The Peace of Wild Things"
"I come to the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free. ~Wendell Barry
