Gliding With Perfection

This young Great Blue heron had it’s favourite fishing hole. Having caught many a fish here, and viewed by many passers by, it hadn’t developed a real fear of humans at this young age.

To sit still, watch it preen feathers, look for and catch fish and other creatures was a special gift.

Who'll Stop The Rain?

Who'll Stop The Rain?

After at least one week of daily rain, torrential at times, the birds seemed very disgruntled. Wet feathers and cooler than normal temperatures make courting, breeding and nesting just a little bit more difficult.

It truly is remarkable the weather conditions birds endure and remain successful at rearing offspring.

Climate change, habitat loss and destruction are major factors affecting decline in all bird and mammal populations.
