Through My Lens..... "Pay Attention, Be Astonished, Tell About It" ~ Mary Oliver
Cruising along the parkway in the early morning, my sleepy eyes were startled by the sighting of large white birds in a small bay. My first thought was Trumpeter Swans, as they are known to pass through this area.
Upon closer inspection through binoculars, I found these magnificent American White Pelicans. Not usual residents, and infrequently single pelicans are seen, this group of six was probably blown off their more western course, as they head north for nesting. The severe wind and rainstorm of the previous night was likely the reason they arrived here on this morning. It wasn’t long before they course corrected, and left the area.
